When Pussycat Dolls creator Robin Antin was assembling the glam-pop act in 1996, she wasn’t just looking for performers with singing and dancing ability. The women signed to back singer/focal point Nicole Scherzinger had to look like divas but be team players. “We all have our roles in the Pussycat Dolls,” singer Jessica Sutta said by phone while nursing a cold in Palm Springs, Calif. “There’s no complaints. We just have our fun with it.” Scherzinger, formerly of the girl group Eden’s Crush, demands the lion’s share of attention as the centerpiece of the act. “There is no jealousy,” Sutta said. “Nicole has a great voice, and she has a great way of taking control of things. We’re happy to have her as our leader. We each sing and dance while she does her thing in the spotlight. “The Pussycat Dolls aren’t about ego. We’re about putting together the best entertainment possible.” In recent years, Sutta and her group mates, Melody Thornton, Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts and Kimberly Wyatt have been joined onstage by such celebrities as Charlize Theron, Pamela Anderson, Brittany Murphy, Paris Hilton and Gwen Stefani.

American all-girl troupe Pussycat Dolls are to join Take That for their open-air concert in the RDS on Wednesday, June 28. Founded by choreographer Robin Antin in 1995, the Pussycat Dolls began as a burlesque dance revue based in Los Angeles, spawned a second revue in Las Vegas, grew into an A-list phenomena with a revolving cast of guest celebrities and eventually became a recording act with number one dance hit “Don’t Cha”. The troupe has attracted actresses and models who wanted to become a Pussycat Doll for a night, including Christina Aguilera, Pamela Anderson, Kelly Osbourne, Pink, Britney Spears, Carmen Electra and Gwen Stefani. An appearance in the 2003 film Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle was followed by numerous television appearances, most with Carmen Electra. Capitalizing on the nationwide attention and the addition of former Eden’s Crush member Nicole Scherzinger as lead singer, the single “Don’t Cha” with special guest Busta Rhymes appeared at the beginning of 2005 and climbed to number two on the pop chart and number one on the dance chart.

Snoop Dogg will provide some smooth rhymes on the new Pussycat Dolls single, “Buttons,” the girls revealed to MTV.com. The dolls have actually teamed with the rap legend before for a performance of “Santa Baby” at the 2005 Radio Music Awards in December, where Snoop dressed up as Santa Claus.
